Montezuma Canyon Ranch & Vineyard

2-30
For almost a month we stayed on a ranch/vineyard in Monetcello Utah. Its located deep inside a canyon with no service, a slow ass computer and many other 20-something year olds. We arrived for the beginning of harvest fest where there were grapes to be picked, hard cider to be consumed and a live band. We stayed in the Wooffer cabin- a log cabin with 4 bunk beds, bathroom with sometimes working water, shower with no curtain, and living room with a wood burning stove. A 3 minuet walk or 22 second ATV ride from the main house. Later in the month we took over the "library" and master bedroom because we are princesses. For the first couple of days our tasks were to feed 20 people and to drink. After the drunk shit show and everyone left the remaining 6 or so other wooffers mainly processed apples. We learned how to can and preserve food, the basic process of making wine, how to pick grapes, how to ride an ATV, how to race an ATV, how to drive a 4Runner go-cart and see how many people you can fit on it. We picked/sorted apples until we turned into apples. On the weekends ( sunday and monday) the group did hikes, went to Moab, and camped in the middle of nowhere. We Saw Anasazi petroglyphs, the Arches National Park and some amazing sunsets. Sarah and I cooked meals and baked everything possible that required apples. As different wooffers came and went the structure of the group changed and so did nightly activities. We had theme nights such as Cuban, cowboy, 4th of July birthday bash, a Quinceanera for a 23year old boy, Thai, and dennys grand slam. We also mixed up the cider and 2% beer for cocktails and shots. Beer pong. Fire pit. Outside bar. And fucking cold nights with crystal clear starry skys. We've meet some very interesting people, really cool people and people who frankly dont matter at all- none the less-have made this Ranch memorable. We are maaaaybe meeting some of them further down our travels for they have become the on-the-road family.

Bosie, SLC

28/29
Smashed coins on train tracks. Old cowboy gave us his coat that smelled like grandpa pipe tobacco. Hitched 3 rides just to go an hour and a half to Bosie. Two hillbys 30 year old boys, a lovely couple who had 7 kids and just got back from Russia, and a quite skinny lonely or weird dude.
Stayed with Caroline who is awesome. Shes 23 and has traveled lots/graduated college and has a cute knife collection. Drank at bars, paid 7.25 for a pack of smokes, ate steak fries( deep fried steak). Went to a stupid metal screamo "punk" show at The Shredder, bought cookies from the co-op, and went to a hole in the wall mexican restaurant and tasted various pumpkin ales.
30/1
Methy, truck driver who was a perv, two cool dudes who have traveled everywhere and had a really nice jeep, and a guy named jose who was really bad at driving but bought us meals at wendys and took us to the front steps of slc.
Stayed with two lovely ladies, maggie and keali. Walked miles in slc, saw a pink portapoty, learned a new card game called shithead drank %2 beer, saw mormans, went to a bar, road in a smartcar, and had good conversation.

Got two rides in 6 hours, an hour out of the city. One from Scottie who drove a nice ass car, dealt drugs, killed a man, and was very kind. The other was in the back of a dry cleaning van. David early 30s was rad and had many stories. Smoked out of a red bull can. Saw a RealTree isuzki and died. Stayed in a dingy cute motel and went to the dingy creepy bar. The bookkeeper Kelly gave us breakfast from his restaurant in a town called Green River, and gave us a ride to another trucker, Nathan . From Moab a male Nuse who fed us McDo took us to Monticello.
